I’m getting married

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

I’ve been away in Melbourne for the past week. What an amazing city! We had a awesome time there, fitting in two concerts; Arcade Fire and the next day Rage Against The Machine. Both outstanding gigs!

Also - I proposed to Amanda.

She said yes.

We’re both totally stoked!

It was our last day in Melbourne. We were having a drink in the shade of a big tree on the Yarra river and it was just so perfect so I popped the question! She said yes immediately and we both giggled and celebrated with another sip of our drinks!

Anyway - I’m sure I’ll have more to say about the whole trip once I settle back into a routine. Happy, happy days!!!

I’m not much of a sports type. That is to say, I hate most sport. However when there’s a large global event I often find myself being ever-so-slightly interested…Olympics, Football World Cup and more recently the Rugby World Cup. Now days I’m expected to support my local team - and in this case that would be the All Blacks.

They didn’t do too well.

So I really had no choice but to support my original team: The Springboks.

This morning I woke up at 6am and drove the 20 odd kilometres over the Harbour Bridge to the deep North Shore to a bar called Bar Africa (well, what did you expect!?) to watch the Rugby World Cup final. South Africa vs. England. I guess by this point you can tell that South Africa won.

Even though I was up far too early for a Sunday I had a thoroughly enjoyable time watching the final. I’m glad South Africa won, and I’m glad to have been a part of an awesome, enthusiastic support party!

Movember

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

During Movember (the month formerly known as November) I’ll be growing a moustache. Thats right…I’ve completely shaved off my beard (sob) and have started growing a moustache.

No - this isn’t complete madness on my part, it’s actually for a good cause. All the proceeds from this event goes towards the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand.

Citizen No. 4,098,901

I’ve been living in New Zealand for over five years now. I left London very much against my will. I was unable to secure myself a working permit for England and my working holiday visa had expired so I had no choice but to bail. My folks had immigrated to New Zealand while I was doing my OE so I didn’t have a home in South Africa to go back to. That’s how I ended up in this fine country…

25 St. Benedicts St.
We’ve been living in Emily place for a about 3 years now. It’s an awesome part of Auckland - close to the city (hm - it is the city), the supermarket, the nightlife, etc. Living the apartment life has been great but it’s now time for us to move along.

Once you Mac you don’t go back!

Tuesday, August 1st, 2006

That’s right, folks! I’ve joined the ‘design’ world proper with the purchase of a MacBook.

I’ve been using a G5 at work for a while now and I started to find that when I went home and had to work on my IBM Windows machine I just got sad/angry. The keys weren’t in the right place, applications were slow to respond and the lack of proper anti-aliasing was beginning to fuck with me…I had to make the change!

And, god, am I glad!
