I heart Xnet
June 18th 9 commentsSo I’ve just changed ISP’s. I’ve been with Xtra for a while purely because they have a shit-load of people working at their call center which means my endless stream of issues were getting dealt with in a timely fashion. The problem - as you’ve no doubt noticed - is that Xtra sucks.
I was talking with my mate Mike the other day and he was banging on about his ISP, Xnet. Yeah…I’d never heard of them either. From that point onwards I started hearing a lot more about them. So having had just about all I could take from the slowness that is Xtra (”unleashed” my arse!!) I decided to change to Xnet.
Two days later I was with my shiny new broadband provider. There was no hassle at all. They called me once to make sure I was who I said I was, then called once again the next day to tell me my account had been set up. Yays!
I’ve noticed a MASSIVE speed increase and things just seem to be running way better. I love the value add that these dude provide:
- Cool Javascript slide control thingie
- Firefox usage meter plugin
- Stand alone Windows app (for those without Firefox…)
- General nerdiness
So if you’re looking for an ISP that isn’t shit look no further than Xnet.

Welcome to the land of decent customer service and decent (as far as New Zealand goes) internet :P I switched us over a couple of months back when Quicksilver/Woosh said they were getting rid of the plan I was on
Dude, nice to meet you at the meetup - it was a great evening! I can’t wait for the next one already.
I’m with the Orcon - they’ve been good to me, but they don’t have the cool Javascript slide control thingy. :(
Hooray for decent internet!
I like the new change of clothes on your site too. That means some changes are afoot ;)
@maree: I’m happy as a happy thing!
@dan: awesome to meet you too, dude! orcon is good too…but it’s just not the same without the javascript goodness
@mike: changes are, indeed, afoot :)
You better believe Orcon is good :-P
Now if I could just find a kick ass web designer/developer we would have our share of javascript-y goodness. There is no shortage of ideas around here!
;-)
Funny, Woosh murdered my dear sweet Quicksilver (hey, at least now we know what ISPs that are owned and operated by people who don’t actually use the internet are like, right?) so I asked around some friends that still work in the ISP industry, WXC (aka Xnet) was *by far* the most broadly recommended. So there you go, you’re now with the provider used by people that … run other providers. :)
yeah xnet is good, but i dont think it goes to the full speed my line can go to but better than slingshot
Never heard of them but I might look em up. I’m thinking about switching from woosh. it’s horribly slow.
Just got Xnet hooked up too - awesome so far!
