Day one started out with Kelly Goto’s keynote on lifestyle design. She covered some interesting topics, the main theme being the way in which we’re trying to make technology more ‘human’. She showed us a few examples of the turning effect - probably the most popular one being the Subservient Chicken.

So we arrived safe and sound in Sunny Sydney.
We’re staying a divey/studenty/TABy/bar/hotel place in Chippendale, which seems to be a student area. The area is quite lovely and quaint. The hotel room is bare minimum, but it fits the bill and seems friendly enough. Oh, did I mention they have FREE WIRELESS!?!?!

Yay! Bloody hell, am I excited or what?! I’ve never been to Sydney so I’m doubly excited!
Manda and I fly out tomorrow morning for Sydney. We’ve been planning this trip since we met Maxine at Webstock. Maxine got us well excited for Web Directions so here we are…packed and ready to go!

I’ve been living in New Zealand for over five years now. I left London very much against my will. I was unable to secure myself a working permit for England and my working holiday visa had expired so I had no choice but to bail. My folks had immigrated to New Zealand while I was doing my OE so I didn’t have a home in South Africa to go back to. That’s how I ended up in this fine country…

We’ve been living in Emily place for a about 3 years now. It’s an awesome part of Auckland - close to the city (hm - it is the city), the supermarket, the nightlife, etc. Living the apartment life has been great but it’s now time for us to move along.

I haven’t been to the Kings Arms in ages…I cant actually remember what the last gig was I went to there…Last night will definately be one of the gigs I’ll never forget.
Manda and I went to see the Dresden Dolls last night. It was fucken awesome!
